SPORT FISHING FOR RAINBOW TROUT
Perfect conditions for fly fishing.
Fly fishing at Vinnalt is very exciting,
as we have rainbow trout that have
been in the lake for many years.
Typically, we have medium-sized
fish around 2.5 kg, but larger fish
are also present and are caught
from time to time.

You can check the availability on the lake bookings.
CHALLENGE YOURSELF
Our rainbow trout are not easily fooled,
and often, you'll need to use imitation
fly fishing techniques, such as nymphs,
dry flies, etc. This can be a delightful challenge.
We've also introduced new rainbow trout,
which can make the fishing a bit easier
since they haven't yet adapted to the lake's
food sources.
In our webshop with thousands of different flies,
you can order what you need for your fly fishing,
so take a look there.

COMMON QUESTIONS
The most common questions we receive are about how we can maintain such low prices and still offer high quality.
When we started our webshop, our standards were set for good quality and low prices, and the fact that we've managed to achieve this is evident in our satisfied customers who return to us. This, in turn, makes the job even more enjoyable. The future will be a challenge as it's growing faster than we could have imagined, and it may require some late-night work to keep up with everything. We may even need to expand our premises further as our customer base continues to grow.
Bonus customers receive discounts on prices; how does this work for you?
Our goal is to sell many flies. Many small streams... a saying that fits us well.
Why aren't the fish biting today?
is a question that comes up now and then. The answer is that many factors come into play when determining whether the fish will bite or not, including weather conditions and changes in air pressure (weather changes can make the fish more challenging to attract), water temperature (the warmer it is, the harder it gets), the number of fly fishermen at the water at the same time, choice of fly, whether the dry fly is dry or slightly wet, the length of the leader, the appearance of the fly presentation, the level of fishing (bottom, middle, or surface), the speed of retrieval (fast or slow), the amount of food in the water, the spawning behavior of the fish, how long the rainbow trout has been in the fishing water (the longer, the harder to catch), and much more.
Who runs Vinnalts Sportfiske?
Joachim and Michael Persson.
Where does the fish come from?
Majsjölax.
How often do you stock fish?
It's approximately every other week.
How big are the fish?
It varies, but the average weight is 2.5 kg. We stock fish ranging from 1.8 kg to 7 kg. The record for a caught fish is currently 8.5 kg, so the growth is good.
What types of fish are there?
Rainbow trout, roach, and brown trout.
Why do some people always catch fish?
It's a matter of experience when it comes to weather, wind, temperature, hatches, water depth, fly selection, fly presentation, and more.
Do I need to cast far?
No, it's not necessary. Rainbow trout often stay close to the shore, in the reeds, under overhanging trees, and search for food. You can sneak up on them, stand a bit away from the edge, and cast.
What do the fins of the fish look like?
When fishing dry flies or small nymphs, older fish are often caught, and their fins are almost always in perfect condition, except during spawning when the males can damage the fins of many fish quite significantly. When catching recently stocked fish (often on colorful flies), fish up to 1.5 kg are usually in perfect condition, while fish starting to reach 2.5 kg and above typically have around 10-15% of the top of the caudal fin damaged. It is not possible to find larger fish with 100% perfect fins in the local waters today. Occasionally, a fish with less-than-perfect fin quality may be found in the water, and we apologize for this, but most of them are usually sorted out during the stocking process.
What sets you apart from other "put and take" locations?
I haven't been to many other places myself, but one difference I've heard about is that we don't charge a price per kilo for the fish you catch. Typically, you pay per kilo of caught fish and sometimes an entrance fee. If you pay per kilo for caught fish, you can release many fish, as the more fish caught, the higher the profit. We aim to ensure that just over half of those who come to us catch fish.
